Retired IAF officer and wife dead in Dwarka

On 25th December 2019, a car accident took place when a retired Indian Air Force Officer along with his wife got hit by a speeding car while they were coming back home from a function. The couple is identified as Amardeep Singh Gill (69-year-old) and Rajani Gill (47-year-old) who lives in Dwarka Sector 7 Air Force and Naval Officers Enclave.

It has been reported that the car was being driven by a 20-year-old BBA student named Yatin. The accident occurred when the couple was crossing the road after returning from a family function, During that time a red Volkswagen Polo coming from Maxfort School side drove zigzag towards the couple and hit them.

The IAF officer Amardeep Singh Gill was reported Dead on the spot and his wife Rajani Gill had several head injuries which were later on reported dead on Friday morning during the treatment in a private hospital in Dwarka Sector 6.

The police reported that the driver of the car-Yatin is a resident of Vikaspuri. He was later arrested along with his Red Polo on Thursday and has been booked under IPC sections 279 of rash driving and 304A (causing death by negligence) at the Dwarka South police station. The police also said that a passerby was present at the time of the accident along with security guards of the society which helped them to identify the red Polo along with the driver Yatin.

During an interrogation with Yatin, he told that he didn’t notice the couple crossing the road and accidentally hit them and then panicked at that time and sped away from the spot of the accident along with his 2 friends.
