The prevalent rape culture results in so many rape cases, and the punishment doesn’t even seem to deter the perpetrators.
Rape cases these days are increasing exponentially, especially against minors and by minors. One such case recently came to light in Dwarka’s Dabri, when a minor 8-year-old girl was raped by a minor boy in her neighborhood.
An innocent 8-year-old class IV student living in Dwarka’s Dabri area was raped by a 15-year-old, who was her neighbour. The police investigated the case and apprehended the accused on Saturday.
The police said on Saturday that the victim approached the police station four days ago with her mother to file a complaint against the accused minor.
“The minor girl said she was sexually assaulted by the accused around 15 days ago. He allegedly threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident, but the girl gathered courage and informed her mother about it four days ago,” the officer said.
Reportedly, the girl’s family called had called the accused and then thrashed him, following which he fled the area. However, through human intelligence, the accused was apprehended on Saturday, 25 May.
The accused minor’s parents live in a village in Uttar Pradesh; the accused came to Delhi for education. He was living with his relatives in the same neighborhood as the rape victim.
The case has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 376 (rape), and also under relevant sections of the POCSO Act. The minor victim is currently being counseled.
