Shubhan Shrivastava(18), a resident of Dwarka has Topped the Joint Entrance Examination(Main) in his maiden attempt by scoring 100 percentile(100 NTA score) overall and in the respective subjects.
National Test Agency announced the results of the engineering test for IITs, NITs and other top institutes on Monday, 29th April 2019. Kevin Martin of Karnataka and Dhruv Arora of Madhya Pradesh secured the second and third position respectively.
Shubhan Shrivastava is a student of Mount Carmel School, Dwarka. He has been coaching for the exam for the last two years. He comes from the family of engineers, his father is an IIT alumnus while his elder sister is pursuing computer science engineering from IIIT Delhi.
“After exam, I checked the answer key and I kind of knew that I had done well. I am very happy with the result and hope to perform well in JEE (Advanced) as well.” said Shubhan
“Regular study of two-three hours is enough to crack the exam” said Shubhan
JEE (Main) examination for the first time was conducted twice (Main 1 and Main 2) online. A total of 11,47,125 candidates took the exam his year including 6.08 lakh candidates who appeared for both Main 1 and Main 2. Shubhan skipped Main 1 and appeared for only Main 2.
“The ranks of the candidates are being released taking into consideration of better of the two NTA scores of all candidates appearing in January and April 2019. The topper will be the one who scored 100 percentile overall. In case of a tie, the 100 percentile of individual subjects in order of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will determine the ranks followed by the least negative marking received. In case of a tie even after this, the older candidate will be given priority in the ranking,” said a senior NTA official.
In total 24 candidates have scored 100 percentile from all over India. Four candidates each are from Rajasthan and Telangana, three each from Madhya pradesh and Maharashtra, two from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana, and one each from Delhi, Punjab, Karnataka and Jharkhand.
The top 2,45,000 candidates, including reserved categories will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, the entrance test for IITs on May 27th.
