Laborer Dies as Mud Falls Upon Him Inside a Pit in Dwarka

One of the laborers was working inside a pit when heavy loads of mud fell on him, causing him to suffocate and die.

New Delhi, Dwarka- On Tuesday, a laborer was working on a construction site, where he was helping his fellow to fix wires in and out of the pit, a heap of mud fell accidentally on him, causing him to suffocate and die. Police said that another person, who was also got buried under the mud, was rescued by the staff. A case has been registered in
this regard.
The incident took place near 3:30 PM in the afternoon where the Police received a call to help in the situation, as one of them was rescued, the other brought to the hospital was immediately declared dead. Later, the deceased was identified as Prempal, a native of Kashganj in Uttar Pradesh. He was taken to the hospital in the police vehicle. Another victim in the case Gaurav (18) is the native of Bulandshar. “We have registered a case on the statement of the victim and investigation is going on to check the negligence in the case”, said an officer. According to an official, both of them were involved in a work related to wiring in the pit, when suddenly the mud fell on them and they got trapped inside.

The police are investigating whether this construction site had prepared a document or contract to hire these men for work or not. Also, similar cases of poor laborers dying during such high duty works have to come to our notice, not for the first time. Recently two laborers died and four others were injured after the wall of an aluminum factory collapsed in Dilshad Garden industrial area. To my surprise, these incidents are a “common air to our ears”, although it is an irreversible act of people whose family members come to cities in search of work and then die this
kind of death. This again comes to my notice that Dwarka is pacing very fast in mishaps, be it crime or accidents. Safety of humankind should be everyone’s priority above work and money, also more and more safety measures need to be implemented for the same.
