Dwarka societies are joining their hands for saving energy the better way
New Delhi, Dwarka: While it is a fact well known, as to how our planet is degrading, some of us do not give attention and some do. Some mechanisms are really helpful to save our resources such as water, electricity, food, oxygen and so on. Talking about electricity, we all know Solar Panels are the best chance for us to save the direct sunlight and convert it into usable electricity. To know more, we have a helpful outcome of such mechanisms.
Some of the societies in Dwarka are able to gain the profit of Solar Panels and cash in on the opportunity by saving lakhs of rupees annually. A majority of these are CGHS societies in Dwarka that were provided solar panels last year under the ‘Solar City Initiative – Solarise Dwarka’ scheme by BSES in collaboration with TERI and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ India) under the Indo German Solar Partnership Project.
Initially seven societies were chosen for the project and they reported cumulative savings of 6.5 lakh electricity and Rs. 32 lakh annually. This model has proved beneficial for other CGHS’s who want to obtain lifetime benefits of this well structured plan. Kalka CGHS in Sector 6, Dwarka has a similar tale to tell with Rs 2 per unit being saved by each household. “At present the solar capacity is 50kW. If the requirement is of 200 units and we produce 220 units, we receive surplus benefits of Rs.5 per unit’, said Mr.Rawat, President of the housing society.
“The network has slowly been expanding and now more societies want to install the solar panels. So far, we have been able to energize over 1,600 (capacity of over 60 MW) solar rooftop net metering connections, which is the highest by any discom in the country’, said BSES official.
