Well, see, here is the thing, we got to wait. This project is in pipeline for the last 6 years and earlier this year, it made a reappearance and caught our eye.
A Football Stadium with a capacity of holding 18000 spectators and a field size of 105 x 68m is going to open in Sector 19, opposite to All India Football Federation. The plans are out and they look quite promising. The state-of-the-art field, will completely meet FIFA standards.
Now the question arises, will International Matches be held at this Stadium?
And the answer is probably not. Even though the field size meets all the requirements of the international standards, the seating capacity of this stadium would only be one-fifth of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. So, if some match gets scheduled in Delhi, it would probably be held at JLN instead of Dwarka.
Keeping these issues aside, while the stadium is made exclusively for outdoor games like football, mini football and athletics, there are facilities for indoor games as well like boxing, billiards, squash and table tennis.
This stadium and convention center would take the standards of Dwarka to a new level. Once again, the spark of Dwarka is coming back with the promises made years ago. In the coming days, Dwarka might well be named as the best place to live in Delhi.
Finishing with that, we still can’t presume any particular deadline as the construction hasn’t even started yet. It might be late, but it would be worth the wait.
