They were killed by a man who helped them find their house on rent and were quiet friendly as well.
New Delhi, Dwarka- A middle aged couple were reportedly stabbed by a family friend at their residence in Mohan Garden Extension on Saturday, police said. Assailant was enraged after victims turned down his marriage proposal for their daughter.
“We received a PCR call stating that 51-year-old Hari Ballabh and his wife Shanti Singh, 47, have sustained multiple injuries on their neck and stomach at their residence in Mohan Garden. On reaching, the police team tried to shift the duo to a hospital but CATS ambulance declared them brought dead”, a police statement read.
The deceased couple belonged from Bihar, survived from a son and daughter aged 22 and 27. The call was made by their daughter who returned the home in evening and found them lying over there. “There were no signs of forced entry or ransacking rather friendly”, said the police.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Vishal, had a liking for the couple’s daughter and murdered her parents to get them out of the way. First, he allegedly attacked and murdered the wife, Shanti Singh (47) using a knife and then her husband Hari Ballabh (51). The daughter, however, was unaware of the crime.
Vishal is an MBA graduate and is currently working with an e-commerce company. Earlier, he was a property dealer. He is said to have grown close to the family after he helped them to get rented accommodation in the city and had been living with them since last year. Police had arrested Vishal on Saturday and their suspicion was said to be confirmed after they had analysed Vishal’s call record details. “We have strong leads in the case. Entry seems to be friendly. It does not look like a murder done for robbery. Hari Ballabh was a teacher in a government school, while Shanti Singh was a housewife,” Delhi Joint Circle Police Officer, Madhup Tiwari, said while speaking to media persons here.
