Maybe the most awaited demolishing by Dwarkawalas, is here; waiting in long traffic jams and doing crazy cutting near Dabri, comes to an end.
On March 14th, 2019, Dwarka Court ruled the decision to demolish the three shops on Dabri-Palam road. These shops create a bottleneck, decreasing the width of the road from 150ft to only 20ft. Earlier, the municipal corporation constructed the Dabri flyover, without successfully acquiring the required land. The property still stands in the middle of the road, affecting commuters and locals. This had resulted in regular traffic jams and accidents. People even go from the wrong side of the road in order to save time, but it results to a congestion at the other side.
In 2016, when the officials tried to demolish the property, the owners moved to court and got a stay. In 2017, DDA appealed against the rule of court. After many hearing, the judge suggested both parties to agree on common terms. Then DDA expressed its willingness to pay compensation to the owners, if they agreed to shift.
The owners of the property, Ajay Mittal and Davinder Kumar agreed to handover the property to the DDA by March 28, 2019, on grant of compensation. The additional district judge, Kanwaljeet Arora has directed the DDA to pay them a consolidated amount of around Rs 60 lakh within 30 days of the owners vacating the property. The court further directed the DDA to pay an interest of 18% per annum, if it fails to pay the compensation within the stipulated period.
This comes as a big relief to the commuters from Dwarka and Janakpuri. This road connects Dwarka with Outer Ring Road and also, is a straight route for West Delhi residents to connect with Airport and Gurgaon. Talking about the locals of Dabri, it is going to reduce congestion and pollution of the area, resulting to a big relieve in the lives of the residents.
