An arms supplier was arrested for supplying illegal firearms to different gangs.
New Delhi, Dwarka- A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Delhi Police near Nursery Plantation opposite Vardhman Mall in sector-19 for supplying illegal firearms to gangs in Delhi and Haryana.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that the accused is identified as Sumit Kharab, who had also been caught in various other cases previously. His prior arrest was in 2014, when he visited
Haryana to operate with several other gangs via Delhi. The arms recovery consists of four sophisticated pistols and one country-made pistol along with two live rounds from his possession.
“He quickly assessed the need of illegal firearms and profit behind it. He then engaged himself in the trade of illegal weapons,” said DCP Dwarka. Police did a crisp background check of the man and discovered that back in 2017, he was arrested for possessing a firearm in the jurisdiction of Dwarka sector-23 police station and due to his petty offensive inclination towards this illegal arms business, he was sent to Tihar Jail to serve his time. He met Aarush, a resident of Khurja (UP) who was undergoing his trial for the same offense as his. And that’s what made the duo to procure the illegal arms to be sold in Delhi and adjoining areas.
