The 50-year-old MCD Sanitary Inspector allegedly sneaked in between two metro cars on Wednesday morning at Dwarka sec-9 metro station.
In yet another shocking case of suicide at Dwarka sec-9 metro station, a 50-year-old MCD worker sneaked in between two metro cars on Wednesday at around 10:18 a.m. The act was recorded in the CCTV camera.
The man has been identified as 50-year-old Anil Kumar, who was immediately rushed to the hospital. “A resident of Palam Village, Anil Kumar was admitted with critical injuries in a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment”, the Delhi Police additional PRO Anil Mittal told reporters. Later, he was declared dead.
According to the police, no suicide note has been found, and the reason of this drastic act is yet unknown. However, Anil Kumar’s son claims that his father had been suffering from depression for the last few days.
The incident led to a brief delay in the Blue Line metro, which connects Dwarka sec-21 to Noida City Centre/Vaishali Nagar.
This comes not long after the recent suicide attempt of a 70 year old, retired Section Officer, named Surrender, who allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of the metro train at the very same station. This incident happened on 15th April, 2019, less than 20 days back.
It is saddening to note the increasing cases of commuters jumping on metro tracks in the recent days. At certain metro station platforms, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken precautions against such mishaps by installing automatic coach entry doors; however, there are many stations where these doors are yet to be installed.
